After the usual whirlwind start to the Iowa High School Football Playoffs, the teams that are still in the hunt get to enjoy a little more normalcy in their schedules, as an entire week separates the second and third round games.

Pella High head football coach Jay McKinstrey says he knows his team and many others will appreciate the time to let tired bodies heal and recover.

“It’ll be real nice to have the full length of time [off] from like a normal Friday-to-Friday, now it’s Monday-to-Monday, as far as to get some recovery time,” says McKinstrey. “I’m sure the teams that are still playing will appreciate that time to for their bodies to recover before their next football game.”

Between the end of the regular season and the opening two rounds of the playoffs, the Little Dutch have played four games in 17 days, including three games in the last ten.

Pella High is currently holding a 10-1 overall record, but faces a tall task for Monday’s Class 3A Quarterfinal round, when they travel to Adel to face unbeaten and highly-ranked ADM.
