A day after struggling to hit shots from the floor in a narrow victory over Goucher, the Central College men’s basketball team turned up the offensive heat in Puerto Rico, notching an 87-69 win over Sacred Heart.
The Dutch seemingly couldn’t miss, shooting a season-best 55.7 percent from the floor, including over 52 percent from beyond the three-point arc. The sizzling offensive performance put five players in double figures for Central, led by Jack Bruns and Chris Lehman, who each scored 15 points.
The 18-point victory pushes the Central men to 9-1 overall, the team’s fastest start since the 1977-78 season. The team will enjoy sunny San Juan, Puerto Rico, for a little longer, before returning to Iowa and eventually resuming Iowa Conference play on January 4th at Wartburg College.
