Melcher-Dallas has a fairly lengthy road trip in front of them today for a non-conference doubleheader at Meskwaki Settlement.

The Melcher-Dallas girls are 3-5 overall and riding high after handing rival Twin Cedars their first defeat of the season on Tuesday night, and head coach Jon Suntken thinks his squad has what it takes to earn another victory today.

“I think that we can [win]. We talked to the girls, and told them ultimately it was up to them to get out there and get themselves mentally prepared to get the job done,” says Suntken.

“We also told them to believe in themselves, because they’ve got the talent and the ability to get it done, they just need to listen a little better, run the offense like it should be run, and take what the defense give us.”

The Melcher-Dallas boys, meanwhile, have been persevering through injuries and what appears to be just bad luck, but seem to be close to putting the right ingredients together to earn their first win.

Tip-off of those games will be today at 5:00 p.m. in Tama.
