With the exception of four matches this season…the Knoxville Wrestling Squad has taken on some of the biggest schools in the state. Twice the Panthers have battled nationally ranked Southeast Polk…plus other larger schools including Cedar Rapids Jefferson, Des Moines Roosevelt, Pleasant Valley, and Indianola. For the most part Knoxville has won those matches. Coach Ron Peterson says while the schedule is very tough at the beginning for his team…that will get his guys ready for what they will face when the postseason starts. Knoxville will be joined at home in the Class three-A District on February 11th by: Pella, Ankeny, Des Moines East, Indianola, Newton, Norwalk, and Southeast Polk. Right now Knoxville has a combined 3-2 dual meet record against fellow district opponents with wins over Pella, Indianola and Des Moines East, the only two losses have come against Southeast Polk twice.
