PCM Teams Tested by Jefferson-Scranton; Pull Off Wins

Fans at last night’s PCM girls and boys basketball games were treated to a pair of highly-competitive showings, both of which resulted in triumphs for the home Mustangs.

In the girls contest, PCM held a 29-22 halftime lead, but saw that margin shrink all the way down to two points late in the game before a Kelsey Townsend basket closed out the 44-39 win. Townsend finished with a team-best 17 points to push the Mustangs to a 4-1 overall record.

The second half of the boys game played out in reverse of the previous contest, with PCM outscoring the Rams 13-3 in the fourth quarter to post a 52-40 win. Jordan Van Roekel’s 14 points paced the Mustang attack, as PCM overcame a two-point halftime deficit to remain unbeaten at 4-0.

Up next for both teams is a road game on Tuesday at South Hamilton.
