Though their season has been a roller coaster of highs and lows thus far, the PCM girls basketball team is still off to a 6-4 start, and the play of junior Kelsey Townsend has been a big part of the Mustangs’ success.

“This year she’s just become so much stronger, that it’s really paid off for us. She’s rebounding extremely well; she’s able to go from one end of the court to the other handling the basketball; she usually guards the other team’s best best forward or post player and she’s kept out of foul trouble,” said PCM girls basketball coach Bret Grier.

“I really think that is attributed to her offseason condition and weight-lifting, just because she’s become so much more confident in herself.”

Townsend leads PCM in both scoring and rebounding, averaging nearly 14 points and over 7 rebounds per contest.  The Mustangs resume competition on Tuesday, January 3rd at Grandview Park Baptist, kicking off a trio of road games.
