Pella Christian’s basketball teams try and build on the momentum of this week’s first Little Hawkeye Conference wins of the season when they travel to Grinnell tonight to take on the Tigers.

Lady Eagles’ head coach Kevin Van Maanen says his team has struggled at times in Grinnell’s gym, so he’s looking for his team’s defense and transition game to get them off to a quick start.

On the boys’ side, Pella Christian head coach Larry Hessing says he’s looking forward to the final game before the break.

“They [Grinnell] will be a challenge. It’s going to be a fun basketball game, [and] the last game for us before the Christmas break. I know it seems like many of the teams are playing games next week,” said Hessing.

“It’s kind of a nice climax – if you want to call it that – a conference game against a really tough opponent on the road as our last game in the first third of the season, as I like to call it. It’ll be another good measure just to see where we’re at.”

The Pella Christian boys are off to a smooth 5-1 start to the season, while the Lady Eagles are at 3-1 overall. You can hear live coverage of both basketball games between Pella Christian and Grinnell on 92.1 fm KRLS; starting at 5:45 p.m. tonight.
