Though team victories have been hard to come by so far this season for the Pella Wrestling team, that doesn’t mean that the Little Dutch haven’t enjoyed some successes on the mats. Pella head coach Joe Burch says he’s challenged his athletes to better themselves each day in practice and in competition, and has seen several grapplers respond well to that challenge.
Among the recent stand-outs for the Little Dutch have been 132-pounder Kyle Langstraat, and Heavyweight wrestler Houston Naaktgeboren. Langstraat picked up a victory in a dual with Knoxville last week and a fifth-place finish at the Pella High Wrestling Invitational, while Naaktegboren pinned three straight opponents to claim first place at the same tournament.
The Pella High wrestlers are off until January 5th, when they compete in a double-dual at Colfax-Mingo that will also feature Jefferson-Scranton.
