The Pella High wrestling team will be in competition on their own mats again today, as they host a nine-team tournament at Pella High School. Included in the field are Albia, Dallas Center-Grimes, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa and South Tama.

“Every single one of those teams is going to bring something to the table,” says Pella High head coach Joe Burch. “It’s going to be a very tough tournament, and there’s going to be a lot of ranked kids there.”

Among the ranked grapplers in the field are South Tama’s Tyler Walz, who is ranked No. 2 in Class 2A at 152 pounds, No. 3-ranked 170-pounder Aaron McMurphy of Dallas Center-Grimes and Oskaloosa’s Dane Jones – the No. 8-ranked wrestler in Class 3A at 195 pounds.

The Pella High Wrestling Invitational starts at 10:00 a.m. this morning at Pella High School.
