A Central College Staff Member is in the running for the 10th annual Iowa Star and Aurora awards. Cheri Doane, Director of Central College’s Center for Community Based Learning has been nominated, and is in the field of finalists including Donald Lamberti, founder of Casey’s General Stores, and philanthropists Janis and John Ruan III among others. The awards seek to highlight individuals who have made significant contributions to Iowa communities.

Doane’s position has allowed her to create service-learning opportunities for students at 90 nonprofit organizations in central Iowa. She received the 2011 Governor’s Volunteer Service Award and the 2010 President’s Volunteer Service Award.
