The amount of money raised through the Coaches vs Cancer event in Knoxville stands at close to $40,000 right now. That’s according to Knoxville girls’ varsity basketball coach Jim Uitermarkt. Uitermarkt says that there is still some money trickling in. He expects to be able to release a final figure soon. It was announced during the basketball games last Saturday that Uitermarkt, his wife Angie, and the girls’ basketball team will receive the Humanitarian Award during the Knoxville Community Impact Awards for their efforts in organizing the Coaches vs Cancer event. Those awards are this Saturday.
