Republican Iowa State Senate candidate Steve Everly tells KNIA/KRLS News he wants to reduce the control of state agencies and make government simpler. Everly works for Ardent Lighting Group, a Knoxville business his wife owns and operates. He says that agencies such as the DOT, DNR, and DHS work outside of legislative control with administrative rules. He wants to reign them in. Everly faces competition in the Republican primary from Wayne County Supervisor Amy Sinclair. Former Knoxville City Manager Dick Schrad is running for the Democratic nomination for the District 14 Senate seat.
