Heartbreak Again: Knoxville Boys Fall In The Final Second To Newton

For the second straight game…the Knoxville Boys Basketball Squad lost in the last second. Last night it was Newton getting a layup as time expired to win 33-32. The grinding defensive battle only had a 14-10 Newton lead at the half, however Knoxville canned back-to-back three point shots to open the second half and appeared to take control, but back came Newton to tie the game at 23 heading into the final eight minutes of play. The lead went back and forth until Newton’s Shamus Baltisberger drove the baseline and put in the game winner just before the buzzer sounded. While disappointed with the outcome, Knoxville Coach Jeff Larson said defensively his team played well. Jake Stearns led the Panthers with 13 points. Knoxville falls to 1-9 on the season and 0-5 on the Little Hawkeye Conference, the Panthers will travel to Norwalk on Friday.
