After a rare Friday night off, the Melcher-Dallas girls and boys basketball teams are back at it today with a varsity twin bill against Southeast Warren.

In the girls contest, the Saints are 8-9 overall, and coming in off of a win over Mormon Trail on Tuesday, while the Warhawks are 4-13 this season.

The nightcap pits the Melcher-Dallas boys against a Southeast Warren squad that has battled to a valiant 8-7 record in the tough Pride of Iowa Conference. Saints’ assistant coach Ryan Conrad says the team will have to move well on defense to stay in front of a skilled Warhawks squad.

“Southeast Warren is another athletic team, and we’ll have to be able to play well, [and] continue to make sure that we’re in the right positions [on defense] so we don’t get into foul trouble,” said Conrad. “It’ll be another tough match-up for us.”

The Melcher-Dallas boys are 3-12 on the season. Tip-off of the girls game is slated for 6:15 p.m. tonight at Melcher-Dallas High School, with the boys to follow.
