Pella High’s basketball teams continue their mid-season home stretch with a pair of non-conference games tonight against Chariton.

The Pella High girls are 6-4 overall and facing a Chargers team that is 3-10 after a loss last night to Eddyville-Blakesburg. Following this past Friday’s loss to Pella Christian, Lady Dutch head coach Jerod Garland said he was hopeful for tonight’s game to serve as a turnaround point for his team.

“We need a bounce-back game,” said Garland. “The girls were dragging [after the Pella Christian loss] and not feeling too well, so it’d be nice to have a bounce-back game Tuesday night.”

In the boys’ game, the Little Dutch will try and build on the momentum of Friday’s win over Pella Christian; seeking to improve upon a 5-4 overall record against a Chariton squad that is at 4-8 overall. Little Dutch head coach Mark Core says he wants to see his team make some progress tonight against the Chargers.

“We definitely do need to keep things pointed in the right direction, and I think that even in the two setbacks that we had recently, I think there were enough glimmers of hope,” said Core. “I know our guys haven’t given up, and we need to get better”

Both games will be streamed live at kniakrls.com, with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema providing coverage from Pella High beginning at 6:00 p.m. tonight.
