The 24th Annual Bald Eagle Day is coming to Central College. The event will host the University of Minnesota’s Raptor Center who will bring a selection of live birds of prey for people to meet, along with presentations about how raptors go about their lives. The event will feature photography exhibitions and craft workshops for kids. Bald Eagle Day is Saturday, March 3rd in Dowstra Auditorium from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

ON JANUARY 30TH, MARION COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO TWENTY FOUR CALLS FOR SERVICE, including but not limited to TWELVE EXTRA PATROL REQUESTS, TWO RETURN PHONE CALLS, TWO PROPERTY DAMAGE ACCIDENTS, TWO PAPER SERVICE ATTEMPTS, ONE TRANSPORT, ONE INJURED ANIMAL, ONE REPORT OF DEBRIS IN THE ROADWAY, ONE GRASS FIRE, ONE REPORT OF A SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE, and ONE PERSONAL INJURY ACCIDENT.
THE MARION COUNTY JAIL IS CURRENTLY HOLDING TWENTY FOUR SUBJECTS.
IN THE PAST TWENTY FOUR HOURS NOBODY WAS BOOKED INTO THE MARION COUNTY JAIL.
AS WITH ANY CRIMINAL CASE, A CHARGE IS MERELY AN ACCUSATION AND A DEFENDANT IS PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL AND UNLESS PROVEN GUILTY

After a small break from conference play to sneak in individual games against Gilbert and Eddyville-Blakesburg, the Pella Christian boys and girls basketball teams will return to their usual varsity doubleheader format tonight, when they visit Little Hawkeye Conference foe Newton.

The Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Melcher-Dallas Rescue, Columbia Fire and Rescue, Pella Ambulance, Bussey Rescue, the Knoxville Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol and Mercy One responded to the scene of a car/Knoxville school bus accident near 135th and Oregon south of Knoxville earlier this afternoon.
