Of all of our Marion County area girls and boys basketball teams, no one unit has been hotter than the PCM boys.  Winners of nine straight, the Mustangs most recently throttled Roland-Story – avenging an early season loss to the Norse – and seem to be returning to the form that earned them a trip to the State Tournament a season ago.

With their sights set on their next opponent, head coach Fred Lorensen said he’s also pushing to pick up their intensity on the defensive end of the floor.

“We’ve got a long ways to go yet. We still need to get better on the defensive end,” says Lorensen. “I think our kids are playing harder; we’re starting to get closer to the concepts [that] we’re trying to do, but there’s still room for improvement.”

The PCM boys basketball team is 13-2 overall and 11-1 in the Heart of Iowa Conference, entering tomorrow night’s road game at Colfax-Mingo.
