Playing their best game of the season…the Knoxville Girls Basketball squad was still unable to pull off a win at Carlisle Saturday as the Panthers fell to the Wildcats 59-51. Knoxville held a 47/40 lead with seven minutes remaining, but a quick 8-0 run by Carlisle gave the Wildcats a lead they would never give up. Coach Jim Uitermarkt said rebounding ultimately did in his team as they gave up countless second and third chance points to Carlisle. Two freshmen led Knoxville is scoring with Meredith Cunningham scoring her season high of 17 and Taylor Carter going 9/12 from the line and racking up 11 points. The boys meanwhile suffered another loss in the closing seconds, their third one in four games as the Panthers fell 44-41. Luke Brady playing by far his best game since coming back from an ankle injury led the Panthers with 13 points while Gerritt Davis had ten. Coach Jeff Larson says this week…practice will be spent trying to match their opponent’s level of play. Both Knoxville squads are off until Friday when they travel to Pella Christian.
