The Central College women’s and men’s basketball teams each exited Kuyper Gymnasium as members of the Century Club Saturday afternoon, handing out respective 104-41 and 104-60 beat-downs of Crown College.
The bench played a key role for the Central women in their 63-point blowout, as freshman Bry Pierce and sophomore Jessy Stika tallied 18 and 13 points, respectively. The win moves the Central women to 5-8 overall, matching last year’s season win total in head coach Mike Jacobsma’s first season.
In the men’s game, the Dutch saw a number of individual career bests put up in their 44-point throttling of Crown. Nick Marinkovich scored 18 of his team-best 20 points in the first half as the Dutch streaked out to a 27-point halftime lead and cleared the bench in the second half. the Central men are now a gleaming 11-1 on the season.
Both Central College basketball teams return to Iowa Conference play on Wednesday at home against Loras.
