Business leaders and state legislators will meet for a business summit today. The event is being hosted at the Vermeer Global Pavilion in Pella, and will have over 50 representatives from 40 major companies from Marion, Mahaska and Jasper counties. The event will be broken into two segments, giving each political party time with the business leaders to discuss what can be done to facilitate growth. Pella Chamber of Commerce Director Karen Eischen tells KNIA/KRLS News that the annual summit that’s organized by the Pella Area Development Corporation has been a success in previous years, and she doesn’t expect this year to be any different.

This afternoon the Pella Chamber of Commerce and Knoxville Chamber of Commerce are hosting events with local legislators. Representative Jim Van Englinhoven and Senator Paul McKinley will be at Monarchs Restaurant from 2:30 to 3:30. Then the two will be in Knoxville at the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce conference room from 4:00 to 5:00.
