Not. Even. Close. Shooting over 57 percent from the field and sprinting out to a 38-point halftime lead, the Central College men’s basketball team completely overpowered Faith Baptist in a 95-49 win Tuesday night in Pella. Helping to catapult the Dutch to a 52-14 halftime lead was a 24-0 run that spanned nine minutes in the middle of the opening half and gave the Dutch a 34-3 lead.

Central maintained their large lead throughout the second half, as the entire varsity roster saw playing time. Demarco Turner hit five three-pointers and led the Central men with 17 points, while Jack Bruns tallied 16 points and 9 rebounds and Kevin Kaerwer posted his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 assists.

The win came at a crucial time for the Central men, snapping a six-game losing streak that followed an 11-game winning streak. The Dutch are now 13-7 overall and return to Iowa Conference play on Saturday with a home game against Cornell College.
