February is Heart Month. Tamie Schutte a RN at Pella Regional Health Center tells KNIA/KRLS News that there are many ways people can fight heart disease, and lead healthier lives. She says one of the biggest things that helps heart health is losing weight and exercising. Schutte says the process doesn’t have to be a difficult one, just getting out and exercising for an hour each day, even in small chunks, goes a long way to helping heart health. She says that there are many lifestyle changes people can make, and building a plan with your physician is a good idea. According to the Center for Disease Control, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.
