State Representative Jim Van Englenhoven tells KNIA/KRLS News that they are closing in on completion of a state budget. He says that the fact that they got the budget proposal from Governor Branstad earlier then in most years is shaping up to be an ideal situation for the legislature, and that normally they wouldn’t be at this stage for another several weeks. He says that the main task that’s remaining is to make sure that the Governor and minority party will sign off on the proposed budget. Because of that, Van Englenhoven thinks this legislative session might actually end up being shorter then in most recent years.
