Bowlers from Knoxville and Pella Christian High Schools will try this afternoon to earn a trip to the Class 1A State Bowling Tournament.  The Co-ed State Qualifying Tournament is being held at 1:00 p.m. at Fairlane Bowl in Knoxville.  Along with the Panther and Eagle girls and boys teams, Little Hawkeye Conference foes Newton, Norwalk and Oskaloosa are also in today’s State-qualifying field, along with Des Moines Hoover.  

The top bowling teams from each of the eight State Tournament-qualifying competitions today will gain an automatic berth, with two additional teams invited based on the next two highest pin totals.  The Class 1A State Bowling Tournament will be held next Thursday at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines.
