The PCM girls basketball team dominated the third and fourth quarters to come back from five points down and defeat CMB 50-35 in Saturday night’s Class 2A Regional Tournament opener. The Raiders appeared to be on their way to beating the Mustangs in Monroe for the second time this season; taking a 23-18 lead into the locker room at the half. Led by an inspired defensive performance, the Mustangs came surging back, outgunning CMB 32-12 the rest of the way.
Courtney VanHouweling led the PCM offense with 17 points, and teammate Abbi Gilson was close behind with 15. The win puts the Mustangs at 13-9 this season. They’ll travel to Gilbert on Tuesday night to face the host Tigers in the second round of the Regional Tournament.
