Proposed Knoxville City Budget Adds to Services, Reserves

[simage=7005,400,y,center]
The Knoxville city staff has proposed a balanced budget to the City Council that Knoxville City Manager Harold Stewart says accomplishes a variety of goals. He says one of their biggest goals was to start to increase their reserve funds, noting they are low for the city’s size. The proposed budget adds an additional police officer and paid weekend shifts for Knoxville Rescue. Stewart says that a variety of other cuts were made and revenues added. One additional revenue stream will come from a utility franchise fee that replaces a utility sales tax. The council will meet Friday to discuss the budget further.
