The Iowa Legislature passed and Governor Terry Branstad signed a bill last week that increases the amount of tuition aid for members of the National Guard by $1.3 million. The bill was the first bill signed during the 2012 legislative session. Knoxville National Guard Readiness NCO Staff Sergeant Chris Wilson tells KNIA/KRLS News that it’s always great to see the state helping out those who serve the country, especially in a shaky economy. Iowa National Guard commander Timothy Orr told the Iowa Legislature last month Iowa guard members face a 10% unemployment rate upon returning from active duty.
