Moulton-Udell was a less-than-gracious guest for the Twin Cedars basketball teams Friday night, as the Eagles left Bussey with a pair of wins; defeating the girls 51-47, then dropping the boys 66-52.

The opener featured a rematch of the Bluegrass Conference Tournament championship game, with Twin Cedars holding onto a one-point lead at the half. Moulton-Udell took the lead in the third quarter, but the Sabers held close, despite a rough night shooting from both the field and the free-throw line. Alee Hugen had 22 points in the loss, as Twin Cedars dips to 15-5 overall and 9-2 in the Bluegrass Conference.

The boys’ contest was very similar, as the Sabers were tied with the Eagles at intermission, but saw the game slip away in the second half as their offense sputtered. Otis Roby and Derek Springer were the top scorers for Twin Cedars with 10 points apiece. The Sabers are now 9-11 overall and 4-6 against the Bluegrass Conference.

The girls are off until Tuesday’s showdown with Melcher-Dallas, while the boys will sneak in a non-conference game at Orient-Macksburg today.
