It feels a little like David versus Goliath tonight for the Twin Cedars girls basketball team, as the Sabers take on mighty Lynnville-Sully in a Class 1A Regional Quarterfinal match-up. While the Sabers have certainly assembled a strong season at 17-5, the No. 4-ranked Hawks enter the contest with a 20-2 overall mark, and top-ranked North Mahaska being responsible for both of those losses.

“All the pressure’s on them [Lynnville-Sully]. If we go up there, rattle them a little bit, maybe they get in foul trouble, maybe someone is hurt or sick, we might throw a couple junk defenses in there – I mean who knows. Anything is possible, that’s why you play the games,” said Twin Cedars girls head basketball coach Justin Nolte.

“We’ve got to go up there [to Sully], have some confidence, get ready to have some fun, go out and work hard, play as hard as we can, and you never know what might happen toward the end.”

Tip-off from Sully is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tonight.
