A partial squad for the Central College men’s and women’s track and field programs completed their first day of competition in the decathlon and heptathlon at the Washington University Invitational Friday.

Senior Breighen Powell is in third after five decathlon events with 2,907 points, while Eric Larson and Ethan Miller sit in fifth (2,849) and sixth (2,815) respectively. Former Central all-American Kurtis Brondyke leads the field with 3,305 points.

On the women’s side, Morgan Sharp is in 16th after four events in the heptathlon with 2,292 points, while Hillary Hotz is in 16th (2,279) and Felicia Shunk is in 17th (2,236). Shakeisha Miller of Lincoln University leads the field with 3,088 points.

The two-day competition will resume Saturday. The remainder of the Dutch squad will compete in Pella at the Central Invitational. Running events will begin at 10 a.m. and field events are slated for 11 a.m.
