Four student-athletes from three programs at Central College are competing on the national stage today, as the NCAA Division III Wrestling Tournament and Indoor Track and Field Championships each get started in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and Grinnell, Iowa, respectively. As previously reported on KNIA/KRLS, Joseph Atwell will represent Central on the wrestling mats, having earned his way into the tournament at 157 pounds. He will open up the National Meet against the top-ranked wrestler in the country, Orlando Ponce of Augsburg College. The National Indoor Track and Field Championships, meanwhile, are being held close to home for the Dutch this year; as the new facilities at Grinnell College will serve as a stage for the top-ranked Division III athletes in the country. Kyle Wood and Eric Larson represent the Central men’s squad, while Caitlin Wilson returns to the national stage to represent the women.
