The Twin Cedars girls track and field team enters the 2012 season hoping to track down its fourth consecutive Bluegrass Conference title. Sabers’ head coach Dennis VerPloegh says while he likes the level of talent he’s got on this year’s squad, there are certainly a few question marks in the field events.

“We have a lot of throwers back, but they didn’t have a lot of experience, so we’ll just have to see how they develop. Our long-jumpers will be really fine. We have both of our long-jumpers back [this season],” said VerPloegh. “The one field event that we’re really going to struggle in is right now we don’t have any high-jumpers. So we’re going to get out the high jump mat [in practice] and see if we can find some to create a few high-jumpers.”

Clarke High School in Osceola is the site of the first meet of the season for the Twin Cedars girls, which will take place next weekend; on March 31st.
