Returning all five starters next season and losing only one senior from this year’s squad makes the 2012-13 season a tantalizing one for the Twin Cedars girls basketball team.  Considering that the Sabers already had a very good season this past go-around certainly positions this team for success in the next school year, but head coach Justin Nolte says it won’t come without the team being willing to put in the extra time to get better.

“We want to work on three things this summer:  One, we’ve got to get in the weight room and get a little bit stronger.  Two, we want the kids to come and really work on ball-handling and some open gym time.  And three, we just want them to shoot the ball as much as they can – shoot some free throws, shoot some jump shots,” said Nolte.

“I mean, if they can take a couple hundred shots two or three times a week, shoot some free throws, and get in the weight room two or three times a week, that’s going to really benefit our whole team.  And if all those girls can come in and do that, then our team’s going to take great strides.”

The Twin Cedars girls won the Bluegrass Conference Tournament title this season, and their 6-2 league record was second best.  Overall, the Sabers were 17-6.
