It’s very important that you get your wells tested. That’s what Marion County Environmental Health Manager Cory Frank wants people to remember during National Groundwater Awareness week. Frank says that even if your wells are not used for drinking water, it’s easy for toxins to gather in the well and eventually contaminate the groundwater supply surrounding it. Frank says that the concerning material that can gather in groundwater are nitrates and fecal coliforms.

Due to a grant, Marion County citizens can get their wells tested for just five dollars. Frank says that grant also reimburses well plugging up to 400 dollars. If you want to know more, contact Marion County Environmental Health.
