For the third consecutive day, we established another record high temperature. At about 245pm, the temperature reached 75 degrees in Knoxville/Pella, breaking the record high of 74 degrees that was set in 1995. We eventually reached 81 degrees to establish the new record. The National Weather Service warns KNIA/KRLS News that though we haven’t seen a heat wave like this quite this early, we have seen heat waves in March. They are usually followed by a cold snap in April, including frost, freezing rain, and other wintery conditions. They say to not get ahead of yourself when it comes to planting, gardening, or other outdoors things.

This is the earliest we’ve ever reached 80 degrees in a year. This is the sixth record high that has been set this year. In addition to the past three days, we also set record highs on January 5th, January 30th, and March 6th. We have set no record lows this year.
