The Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department and the Knoxville Rural Fire Department responded to a grass fire just east of Knoxville Thursday afternoon. The call came in just after 4pm, and was put out completely by 4:20. About half-an-acre of grass was burned.
Knoxville Rural Fire Chief Kenny Thompson says that this is the seventh or eighth grass fire they have responded in the past week. He tells KNIA/KRLS News that people should be very cautious while burning and need to keep a careful eye on their fire. Thompson suggests against doing any burning if the wind is even somewhat strong.
