Jasmin Schelhaas swept the individual sprint events and the Pella Christian girls made a strong showing in their first outdoor track meet of the season at Tuesday evening’s Chariton Earlybird Meet. Schelhaas took first place in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dash as part of an impressive performance for the Lady Eagles in the sprint events. Pella Christian took the top three spots in the 100 meters, was first in the 4×200 meter relay, and took runner-up in the 4×100 meters.

Lynelle DeBruin also had a strong day individually, claiming first place in the 400 hurdles and the long jump. Additional silver medals for Pella Christian were claimed in the shuttle hurdle relay, distance medley relay and the high jump. The Pella Christian girls track and field team is off until Tuesday, when they’ll run at Davis County in Bloomfield.
