For the first time since 1996, the Pella Christian girls basketball team is in the State Semifinals, and the Lady Eagles are determined to make the most of their opportunity.

Pella Christian head coach Kevin Van Maanen said while his team was thrilled with their 66-63 win over No. 2 West Hancock Tuesday morning, the team is not satisfied with just one win at the State Tournament.  He adds that it’s been a long-running goal for the seven seniors on this year’s team to reach – and win – the State Championship game, and he expects his team to play with a great deal of pride and confidence today.

The Lady Eagles face the Wolves of IKM-Manning in this afternoon’s Class 2A Semifinals.  Tip-off from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.  You can hear the live broadcast on 92.1 fm KRLS.
