Locked right now into early season workouts, the Melcher-Dallas boys track and field team is focusing on getting prepared for their first competition of the season.  Saints’ head coach Ryan Conrad says his team has been very positive throughout what is typically the most grueling part of the season.

“We’re going pretty strong right now, working on building endurance and then adding some speed from there; once we build up a good core,” said Conrad. “Right now we’re still in the phase where we’re building up our endurance, so it’s not always the most fun part of the season for the guys; but we’re getting through it and they’ve got good attitudes. It’s a fun group to be around.”

That preparation will be put to the test quickly.  The Melcher-Dallas boys compete for the first time this season at the Lamoni Indoor meet on Monday, then open the outdoor track and field season with a meet at Pekin on April 5th.
