The Knoxville School Board approved specifications to send the track renovation project out for bid during their regular meeting last night. A representative from CONNECT Architecture estimated the project would cost about 568,000 dollars. The track at the high school was built about 30 years ago and has not been renovated since that time. The CONNECT representative estimated that this track would last 30-35 years.

The board also received a presentation from curriculum director Jill Van Woerkom and high school principal Kevin Crawford regarding curriculum changes to coincide with what is required by the Iowa CORE. Van Woerkom told the board that it will be an adjustment period, and the faculty at all levels is going to have to adjust to a new mental model. Crawford said that for the most part, they were able to ease into the changes in a lot of subject areas at the high school. They did have to make some changes to the math department, Crawford added, to adjust to new requirements. One of those new requirements is that many students will have to take a semester of stats.
