Senator Chuck Grassley was in Pella Monday to discuss medical care. The Senator visited Pella Regional Health Center, and heard discussion on a variety of topics. One that was highlighted was Medicare reimbursement cuts. Pella Regional CEO Bob Kroese tells KNIA/KRLS News that even small cuts to Medicare reimbursement rates can be harmful to Iowa. Senator Grassley tells KNIA/KRLS News that because Iowa’s health care system operates much more efficently, hospitals don’t see as many patients and the formulas don’t take that into account well enough. The Senator says that one of the things he has fought for on capitol hill is fairer reimbursement across the nation.
