Veteran leadership is incredibly important in helping any team focus on a strong start to their respective season, and the Pella High boys soccer team is positioned to benefit greatly from a trio of upperclassmen this spring. The Little Dutch have selected Tukker Bogaard, Grant Barrick and Sam Davis to captain this year’s squad.

“Those are three of our seniors. All three are returning varsity players. It’s kind of nice to have a group of three like that; we like that number just because it helps in terms of leadership – there’s more of them, so they can talk to more of our team,” said Pella High boys soccer coach Mark Solomon. “Each of those players also represents a different area of the field for us as well, in terms of forwards, midfielders and defensive players.”

Bogaard and Barrick were each First Team All-State last year for Class 2A, while Davis was a Second Team All-Conference selection for Pella High. The Little Dutch officially open their season March 31st with a four-team tournament at Waukee.
