Twin Cedars appears poised for another strong season in girls track and field. The Sabers return a number of experienced and talented athletes this spring, and head coach Dennis VerPloegh says they expect to be strongest in the same areas as a season ago.

“We have a good group of sprinters and a good group of hurdlers, and those will be where we’ll really bank a lot of points,” said VerPloegh. “We also have Brittany Roby who returns. She ran in the State Meet last year in the 3000, and we’re not really sure where she’ll run [right now], but she’ll help us wherever we put her.”

VerPloegh adds that the early focus in practices as simply been on getting the girls out on the track and building up their endurance. The Twin Cedars girls compete outdoors for the first time this season on March 31st, when they’ll run at the Clarke Invite in Osceola.
