The State Jazz Championship winners have been announced, and Pella took first place in division 3A. The Pella High School Jazz Band was selected as one of two final qualifiers in their division, says Band Director Jason Pennpico, and they performed a head to head competition against Harlan. The Pella Jazz Band is graduating seven seniors this year, out of nineteen band members. Pennpico says they will be hard to replace. North Mahaska took first place in division 1A.
