A fast start helped the Pella High boys soccer team pick up a 6-2 conference win over Oskaloosa on Tuesday night in Pella. The Little Dutch put the ball in the back of the net three times in the opening 30 minutes; including two off corner kicks.

The Indians went into intermission with the momentum, though, after scoring twice in the final six minutes of the half to bring the game to 3-2. The pendulum swung back-and-forth in the second half, with Pella struggling to keep pace with the intensity of the Indians. A converted penalty kick gave the Little Dutch some much needed momentum, and with confidence back on their side, they closed out the match with two more goals in the next ten minutes to cap the four-goal victory.

Grant Barrick finished the night with a hat trick, including the momentum-swinging penalty kick goal. The win puts the Pella High boys at 5-2-1 on the season. They’ll be on the road Monday for a tough contest at Perry.
