The Central College men’s tennis team couldn’t hold back Iowa Conference leader Coe College Saturday as the Kohawks handed the Dutch a 9-0 shutout at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex courts. Tim Kahl and John Seier led late in the No. 3 doubles match, but couldn’t find the finishing spark.

Central’s effort was highlighted by Kyle Freischlag and Collin Schares in singles action. Freischlag was upended 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 singles match, while Schares fell 6-1, 7-5 in the No. 3 match. The loss drops Central to 10-9 while Coe climbs to 18-4.

The Dutch host Grand View University and league opponent Cornell College beginning April 21st at Pella. It will be Central’s final outing before the Iowa Conference Team Championship May 4-5 at Iowa City.
