Severe Weather Awareness Week wraps up Friday with a focus on family preparedness. Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says that it’s very important to go through with your family what to do in the event of severe weather. Just as important, Anderson notes, is having a plan for afterward. There could be scenarios when you and your family are separated during a severe weather event, so you should have plans in place to communicate after it passes to make sure everyone is ok. Anderson says people today are especially reliant on their cell phones. In the case that a cell phone tower goes down during a severe weather event, you should have a backup plan with your family to ensure there is adequate communication.
