The Knoxville City Council is going ahead with a plan to extend the city’s sewer system south of Highway 92 off of Highway 14. City Manager Harold Stewart says that the city was approached by a new property owner in the area with a septic tank that would rather be on the city’s sewer line. Stewart says that the property owner will share in the cost of extending the system. He also notes that they’ll be able to eventually move the airport onto the sewer system as well, as the new sewer lines will be right by the airport.

Stewart says that the funds that will be used for the project are from Tax Increment Finance dollars that must be used in an urban renewal area such as the area south of Highway 92. Veenstra & Kimm was approved for the engineering services for the project, with the cost not exceeding $21,000.
