Snapping a nasty scoreless streak also helped the Pella Christian girls soccer team to end a six-game losing skid as well, as the Lady Eagles edged Centerville 4-3 Monday night in Pella.

A goal by Kayla Groenendyk in the eleventh minute got the monkey off the back of the offense, and Christina Nolte added a second score just six minutes later, giving the Lady Eagles a 2-0 lead at intermission. Centerville struck first in the second half, but an Abby Pleima goal gave Pella Christian a two-goal cushion again; putting them up 3-1.

The Big Red weren’t done, though, scoring twice in seven minutes to tie the game at 3-3. With just under six minutes to play, Ashley Ambroson hit the game-winning goal to secure the victory for Pella Christian.

The Lady Eagles dominated the game with 42 shots-on-goal to Centerville’s 8. Goalkeeper Jenna Roose had five saves, while Jalissa Morgan led the defense with 18 stops. The Pella Christian girls soccer team is now 1-6 on the season and will play at Chariton on Thursday.
