The PCM boys track and field team has greatly benefited this season from an exceptionally athletic crop of seniors, but when the Mustangs hit the track in Saydel this evening they won’t have their usual leaders to depend on. It’s senior trip this week at PCM High School, so Mustangs’ head coach Ben Anderson will depending on his younger runners to carry a lot of the weight in today’s meet.

“I think we’ve been in this situation before. I can recall senior trip being the same time as the Saydel meet, and it works out ok. It’s really about the experience and the feel for what varsity track really is for some of those kids,” said Anderson.

“I don’t want to want to say it’s a humbling experience for them, but they get a taste of it. It either makes them perform better or they find out they have to perform better – they don’t really have a choice. They’ve got to get better at this point and I think our kids will step up and do well.”

PCM can look forward to having their full boys team back when they compete again this coming Tuesday. Today’s competition at Saydel begins with the field events at 5:00 p.m.
